The National Office of the Judiciary (OBH), led by Tünde Handó, responded by publishing a copy-cat video under the title “[Failing to see the] Trees from the Forest – Truth about the Justice System.” The OBH video appears to make light of what the anonymous judge said and the manner in which he said it.

Syrian’s ‘terrorism’ trial in Hungarian election spotlight

BUDAPEST — Just weeks before Hungary’s parliamentary election, a court is expected to rule on a case that has come to symbolize Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s anti-migrant agenda for both his supporters and opponents. The court in the southern city of Szeged is due to give its verdict in the retrial of a Syrian man convicted of terrorism and jailed for 10 years for his role in a confrontation between police and asylum seekers on the border with Serbia in 2015.

“Hungary decides, not the UN” billboards blanket Hungary

In the wake of the governing Fidesz-KDNP’s humiliating defeat in a recent mayoral by-election, the government of Hungary has turned its sights from American financier George Soros to the United Nations. The latest round of “government information” billboards blanketing the country claims “The UN wants us to continually accept migrants,” “take down fences blocking the way of migrants,” and “pay the cost of their settlement and employment.”
